Sour Cream for Burns
Sour cream provides an instant relief from burns, which is why it’s wise to keep a small container in your fridge just for these occasions. Just apply a small spoonful of cold sour cream directly onto the burn. There’s no need to rub it in. Once the sour cream reaches room temperature, gently wipe it off apply a new cold layer. It does wonders, trust me!
3 More Natural Burn Remedies
You’ve probably heard that aloe vera can be used for sunburns, but it’s effective for all types of burns as well. You can use it on its own or mix it with some sour cream, it gives instant relief. For this purpose it’s best to use gel extracted from the leaves directly, but if you don’t have it in the moment look for all-natural versions of aloe vera jelly in the drugstore. Just cut open the leaf, and scrape out the gel inside with a small spoon and apply directly to the burn.
Another great option for treating burns is organic raw honey (Manuka or medicinal honey). According to research it’s an excellent antibacterial agent against a large number of types of bacteria, so not only will applying honey give temporary relief, it will help to prevent any infections while your skin is still vulnerable
For this purpose all you have to do is apply a generous coat onto the affected area, about 1/4 of an inch thick. Spread the honey over your skin as necessary using a clean wooden stick (like the tongue depressors you see at the doctor’s office). Once you’ve applied it, cover it with a bandage and change the dressing frequently to avoid infection. Monitor your healing process and wash the honey off only after the burns have completely healed.
Some preliminary studies have shown that coconut oil can be used as an effective topical treatment for a fast burn relief. Just apply a generous amount on the burn and you’ll get instant relief. It has anti-bacterial properties and will protect you from infections.
