Now that it is officially sweater season, many of us are tempted to let go and enjoy the holidays as well as the food that comes with them.
But we need to also keep in mind that this is the time to start exercising for our summer body and reduce the belly fat. Down below are a few tips and tricks that will help you cut down some belly fat without going on crazy, starving diets:
- Reduce your salt intake
Consuming too much salt will make you feel bloated, as salt retains water in your body and contributes to “water weight”. And although our bodies need salt in order to function properly, too much of it won’t do well. Make sure your maximum dosage is half a teaspoon a day.
- Reduce your carbs intake
This is a good time to lay off the paste and bead if you want a killer-summer body. They will only contribute to making your stomach look fat. Calorie-restriction diets are also less effective than low-carb diets when it comes to lose weight. So make sure you don’t starve – simply cut down on carbs.
- Cut back on milk
Milk can make it harder for you to lose weight. Never exceed half a liter of milk a day, or completely replace milk with some yogurt or cheese.
- Eat less spicy food
Spicy food makes our stomach produce more acid than usual, which will end up irritating your stomach and prevent you from losing weight.
- Cut down on alcohol, coffee, sugar and processed foods
Cutting back on the ingredients above will make you feel more energetic, healthier and won’t contribute to easier fat storing.
- Eat the right fruits
Eating fruit has countless benefits. If you’re trying to lose weight, avoid fruits such as pears and apples that have a large amount of fructose, as this can burden your digestion. Instead eat fruits such as citrus or berries.
